Fruit soup is a soup that is prepared using the fruit as the main ingredient, and can be served warm or cold replaced on the recipe. Some fruit soups use a variety of fruits, and alcoholic beverages such as rum, sherry and kirsch (a fruit brand) can be used. A fruit soup is sometimes served as a dessert.
Some recipes for cold soup are served when the fruit is in season during warm weather. Some, like fruktsuppe from Norway, are served warm or cold, and contain dried fruit, such as dry prunes, apricots and raisins, which can be served at any season. The fruit soup can include milk or cream, candied or dumplings of acid, spices, or alcoholic beverages, such as sweet wine, white wine, branded or champagne.
